One of the few early masterpieces of fevicol, when it comes making outstanding ads , fevicol stands class apart, Fevicol time and again has very artistically managed to maintain , the subtle unsaid humor with a dash of drama, this particular ad is of the first ones i remember coming from fevicol's barrel. A local stall guy going through his regular business of making omelette, alas the egg won't break, it keeps you guessing what could be the reason, and then delivers the final punch of the chick feeding grains from a used fevicol box, it delivers so with such finesse, that it conjures up an excitement and laughter even after countless viewing.
Advertisments-Those brief little snippets in between which we've reveled, enjoyed, and laughted our hearts out at, peek through those windows playing the renditions of our ever changing Indian culture celebration. An attempt at taking you through those nostalgic lanes with a few of the ones which became memorable...

Lijjat Papad : karrrraamm kurrraamm...
Who would have thought that our regular side-kick papad would one day be engulfed in brand craving- behold Lijjat Papad. The funny bunny who did it all with his tell-a-tale melody karrrramm kurrramm. Ads like this take you to time back when everything was simple, silly and goody goody. Ad industry moved quantum leaps after that, but the oldies had a charm of their own. The papad was nice too, crunchy with the right tinge of spicy pepper aroma.

Vicco Turmeric : vicco turmeric nahi cosmetic...
Even in those days , the ads of Vicco had an old world rustic feel, not at all upsetting though infact a rather feel good theme, surprisingly it was time when ad content on Tv was slowly but steady maturing, ads were starting to rely on a wider fashion appeal, better content , much better video quality........between all this; out of the blue comes a Vicco turmeric ad, as if the makers of the Vicco ad slept through the whole transformational phase, yet what was really intriguing was people took to it, i saw my mom overindulgingly buying Vicco cream, so were the others i knew , every store stacked it to the full, the point is it was selling like hotcakes, anyways bottomline it was a good ad, the jingle had its own feel, and all in all everything about Vicco seemed innately Indian.

Melody : itni chocolaty kyu hai???, melody khao khud jaan jao...
ahhh bull, i could not find the older "melody ad videos" but hey, this one's pretty good too. Hmmm Melody was something that has puzzled my generation for a long time now, it brought the world to a standstill when it dared to ask the unthinkable, " Melody itni chocolaty kyun hai" , Surely Einstein would have rolled in his grave when melody posed the world with this. Even to this day , its a question that renders people speechless...we pride ourselves on our worldy advacements, our quantum leaps of progresses, but soon as we bow down to take that leap of developments, a hand grabs us by the shirt, and asks " melody itni chocolaty kyu hai " kyu kyu kyu........Though we humans have very callously put this marvel behind us, avoiding like we always do, but everyone who grew up around my time, would agree that there can only be one answer to this age old wonder " melody khao khud jaan jao" he he ..........:-D

Nirma : soundaraya sabun nirma!!!!
"Soundarya Sabun Nrma" sounds heavily cliched now, but back then it was different story altogether. And she Sonali Bendre looked stunning then ever. For sure, would have shot up Nirma's sales right out the roof. Plus those plush beautiful locations, zebra's , lions, cubs, they really packed in full with this one. , its quite intriguing how in every shot she had to have some or the other prop. having said all that it was a beautiful ad , the right background score coupled with picturesque locations, and Sonali Bendre- the cherry on the cake. Enjoy the ad!!!

Amul : The taste of India
Amul, etched in everybody's mind as the taste of India, was of those few brands which came out during those times with the most memorable and enjoyable ads and when we talk of amul ads could not go without a mention of "mero gaam" ad yet i remember this more clearly, there is something that sort of lights you up in all amul ads, what stole my chuckle were the boy on swing ,cute bald boys, girl who eats up her gulab jamun and finally the little girl licking the butter paper , all in all amul had this celebration of life in little little things things in all its ads, a quality Innate to us all Indians. !! Enjoy the ad

LIC: Zindagi ke baad bhi...
May have been relatively new,
but it was a classic indeed, Of those few ads that hits the nail, in a subtle
yet effective way it explains to you all the benefits of insurance and makes
you wonder , while striking an emotional chord with you. Surely of the best
insurance ads i had ever came across, and that classical and beautiful flute
playing by the end of it, seems to take you with the flow of it, the typical
indian or the motherly love of that lady, there was something very homely about
this ad!!! having all said , this would always be there somewhere in my
memory!!!

ACTION SCHOOL TIME: good , good morning teacher
this ad was the reason i got those shoes, or rather forced my dad into getting them....he he, every boy who went to school during that era , could hopefully relate to me. We were kids and our motivations back then were way above quality , price , sturdiness...they were simply "if he has it i want it". When i think of it, this were the only once i polished my heart out on. And that jingle of its " oh ho ho school time...." succinct!!!!
Dhara: Jalebiiiiiiiiiiiiiii.............
There was something in the way he says jalebiiiiii, and the way that halo lights up on his head or that
soothing music playing in the back, that just touchs you in a beautiful way!!!!!!!! guess they don't make such anymore.
what did it for me was the way he says "Ramu Kaka", serioulsy heights of cuteness!! Dhara did came with many similar ones , but this was something else.!!!!

CADBURY: kya swaad hai zindagi kaa...
I was'nt more than 7 when this ad came along.....and there was something about that girl, may be smile , her dress or her dance, i could never knock her off my mind. And that "kuch baat hai ham sabhi mein , ..." true celebration of life the Indian way!!! One could'nt resist a smile whenever this ad came along! I guess it was her simplicity i fell in love with ......afterwards there came many others with the same song , and even better content but then some things stand out......and this was definitely one of them. Enjoy!!
FEVI KWIK: he he char char....
Definitely of the funniest ever.......the end punch line "Chutki mein chipkaye , fevi kwik", and the last expression the guy in the vest had were just spot on. A typical southerner lungi guy making his catch in seconds with fevikwik, while the other seemingly modern expert with his fishing rod waited on ....the humor was obvious. We rarely come across such ads anymore , but then fevi kwik has had that reputation of having such ads. Enjoy!!
UNCLE CHIPS: bole mere lips i love uncle chips
Uncle chips- The only chip we had in India back then, ......and off course the jingle that came along with it, " Bole mere lips , I love Uncle chips". The melody of it caught on like wildfire so much so that every little kid like me back then was singing away to it , though with time lays and many other ones caught on, and eventually uncle chips got left back some where losing that sheen, until eventually lays bought it over .. but a classic's a classic, and everybody who went through those times would know what fun a bag of uncle chips meant then! Enjoy the ad again!!
